The European “Horizon – The Research and Innovation Magazine” brings the latest news and features about thought-provoking science and innovative research projects funded by the EU: now there is also an article on ULTIMO project in the magazine.
The article captures the efforts of ULTIMO’s partners to make public transport in Europe cleaner and more sustainable by installing fleets of self driving electric cars in three European cities. The focus is on insights into the deployment site in Groruddalen, Oslo, where five self-driving electric cars have been ferrying citizens since early February 2025.
Christian Willoch from ULTIMO-partner Ruter and Andreas Fehr from ULTIMO project leader DB also have their say in the article. They name the achievements and successes in the project. They also provide insights into current challenges and limitations that the project aims to overcome. Such a limitation for example is the behaviour and attitude of people towards public transport. The ULTIMO project also conducts research to develop a user-friendly service, aiming to make it as easy as possible for people to access the service and leave their own car at home.
